Ohio’s Hospice of Miami County Holds Summer Camp for Grieving Children and Teens
Ohio’s Hospice of Miami County hosted its annual Camp Pathways, June 15-17, at Ludlow Falls Camp in Ludlow Falls, Ohio. Camp Pathways is a unique experience designed to encourage children and teens to express their feelings of grief in a safe and fun environment.
Campers were surrounded by a caring community that gave them the opportunity to interact with other children and teens who are grieving the loss of a loved one. Each camper was paired with an adult buddy who supported them through their grief while at camp.
“Our mission is to meet each child where they are in their grief journey,” said Angela Timpson, bereavement counseling professional at Ohio’s Hospice of Miami County. “We provide each child an opportunity to be supported as they grieve the death of a loved one.”
Trained volunteers led group sessions and activities. The day camp offered grieving children and teens an opportunity to be with others who also have experienced the death of a loved one.
Camp Pathways is offered through Pathways of Hope℠ Grief Counseling Center at Ohio’s Hospice of Miami County. Through Pathways of Hope, support and education are provided by bereavement counseling professionals with expertise in serving grieving children, adolescents and adults.
