Hospice Patients to Receive Holiday Trees
Ohio’s Hospice of Miami County volunteers are busy this week with an annual project to brighten the days of hospice patients. A group of volunteers has adopted the name “Christmas Crafters,” meeting monthly all year long to prepare 3,000 handmade ornaments for holiday trees to deliver to hospice patients. According to Director of Volunteer Services Amy LeVan “Last year over 220 trees were delivered by volunteers to our patients to help make the holidays a bit brighter,” LeVan explains. “This volunteer project came from a groundswell of inspiration from the volunteers themselves who organized to make this a reality. They wanted to make sure all our patients had some Christmas cheer in their homes, and that the ornaments were made with love.”
The patients and the families greatly appreciate the kindness of the volunteers for helping make their holiday season special. Heartfelt thanks to all of our volunteers for assembling, making ornaments, decorating and delivering holiday trees to all of our patients.
